Title: Bayesian Methods in Pharmaceutical Development and Clinical Trial Design
Abstract:
As in many fields, advances in computation have unleashed the potential of Bayesian methods in development and design. Bayesian methods are now acceptable in all phases and therapeutic areas. One of the most powerful aspects of Bayesian methods is their ability to combine information, now being used to drive prior selection from historical data, disease modeling in rare (and not rare!) diseases, provide seamless inferences in
platform trials, and decision making at the trial and program levels through the use of predictive probabilities. We will review some examples of trials and programs where Bayesian methods produce dramatic improvements in performance and suggest new areas for research going forward.
